What is an Order?

An Order is a place where you want one of your Drivers to stop.
 
Depending on your operations, an Order could be a Service Call or a Delivery point.

If you provide a Transport Service, for instance, an Order is likely to be a request for delivery or pickup received from a customer or a warehouse (read more about Transport Services).

 
If you are a Field Service provider, instead, an Order will typically be a customer's request for a service at their premises (read more about Field Services).
 
The reason why we call these places Orders instead of Locations, Addresses or Points is that the latter are just physical positions on the map, whereas Orders are more complete geographically-referred requests.
 
In fact, besides their Addresses or LatLongs, Orders can be defined by many other logistic constraints and parameters: specific Service Time (i.e. the Stop Time at that place), Time Windows and/or Load Units and special Skill requirements, just to name a few (read them all here). All this information is processed to create your optimized Route Plan.
 
Furthermore, the same location may have to be visited several times - sometimes even within the same Route Plan: in this case, you simply need to define multiple Orders that share the same address.
