How are Drivers defined?

Last Updated: Mar 27, 2012 01:55PM CEST

Drivers are defined by a number of fields.
Here below you find a description of all the fields you can use to set constraints and characteristics.

Field Required Description
Start Address Required This field is the location (Address or LatLong) from which you want the Driver to start the route.
End Destination Required This field is the location (Address of LatLong) where you want the Driver to arrive at the end of the route. You can choose one of three options:
  • Roundtrip: the Driver will be routed back to the Start Address.
  • Open Route: the Driver will end the route wherever is more convenient
  • Specific End Destination: the Driver will be routed to a specific Address
Start Work at Required This field is the earliest time your Driver can start the planned Route. Depending on the distribution and constraints of the Orders, the Driver may happen to start even later than this, but will never start earlier.
Finish Work by Required This field is the latest time your Driver is available to work. Depending on the distribution and constraints of the Orders, the Driver may happen to complete the Scheduled Route earlier than this, but will never finish later.
Rest Break Optional You can set here the duration of a Break.
Starting between Optional If the Driver has a break, these two fields define the Time Window within which you would like the Driver to start his/her break. The starting time of the break will be an output of the optimization process, with the Route Planner suggesting the best moment (within limits of this User-set Time Window) for taking the break.
Load Capacity Optional If you are concerned that too many Orders may saturate the Load Capacity of a Driver's vehicle, you should set a limit here. The planned Route assigned to this Driver will never exceed that limit. Any Unit of  Measurement works with this field and you can choose what best matches your own operations, provided that you use it consistently when importing your Orders.
Special Skills Optional Your Orders may require (or even exclude) Drivers with specific Skills. For instance if an Order requires to be served by an expert in Electrical installations, you should type that skill into this field so the Route Planner will assign the most efficient Driver chosen among those who have this Skill. Add multiple Skills by using comma "," as a separator.
Notes Optional Add any Note related to the Driver in this field. Driver Notes are private and will not be seen by the Drivers.
